UFC on FOX 8 adds Saffiedine-Lawler and Castillo-Green
One day after confirming Rory Macdonald vs Jake Ellenberger for UFC on FOX 8, the UFC have announced two more bouts to the card.
In the welterweight division, Strikeforce Welterweight champion, Tarec Saffiedine (14-3) will meet the hard hitting Robbie Lawler (20-9(1)). Saffiedine will make his UFC debut on the back of the biggest win in his career after he defeated Nate Marquardt on the final Strikeforce card. The Belgian native has a four fight win streak. His opponent, ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler is a veteran of the sport and will be looking to build on his huge first round stoppage of Josh Koscheck at UFC 157. This was Lawler’s first fight at 170 pounds since 2004 and his first UFC fight since his UFC 50 loss to the late Evan Tanner.
Also added on the card is a lightweight clash between Danny Castillo (15-5) and Bobby Green (20-5). Castillo will be returning to the Octagon following a big win over Paul Sass earlier this year at UFC on FUEL 7. Since moving over from the WEC, Castillo has built up a 5-2 record inside the Octagon. Bobby Green burst in to the UFC with a submission of the night win over Jacob Volkmann at UFC 156. Prior to that Green had fought for the now defunct Strikeforce promotion. He is currently on a 5 fight win streak.
UFC on FOX 8 is set for July 27 and will be held at the Key Arena in Seattle.
