In his first interview since being pulled from this weekends fight against Gegard Mousasi, Alexander Gustafsson talked with FightersOnly and explained how the whole situation has been one of the worst times of his life:

“We were doing some wrestling drills and I bumped by head into a post that keeps the cage wall up. I felt it and felt the blood come running down and I was thinking okay it’s a cut and it’s bad but I’ll go and get it sticked up and it’ll not be a problem, I’ll not train anymore, I’ll cut my weight, and I’m good to go, that was 100% for me.”

“It’s been terrible, it has been the worst time of my life so far, in my whole career I can tell you that. I lost once so far in my career but this has been worse than that, it’s been a circus, a roller coaster, but it is what it is and I feel for the fans, that’s the worst part.”

“The circus has been in my head, I’ve been fighting the whole week to try and make this fight happen. A few days ago there was no problem, I didn’t see this coming. But now it’s happened and everything went so fast. I’ve been training my ass off, I’ve had the best camp of my whole career and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been, I’m ready to go 10 rounds.”
